Coping Skills Training

Principal Investigator: Robert T. Fraser, PhD

Across studies in our previous five years at the MSRRTC, several salient trends were noted. Although study participants seemed to feel optimistic about their rehabilitation prospects, were experiencing reasonable levels of social support, and rated themselves relatively high in relation to Activities for Daily Living (ADL) capabilities and employment readiness, they were functioning with mild to moderate levels of anxiety and depression.

In response, we have developed coping skills materials on MS that provides people with MS with specific and practical tools for psychosocial adaptation. The materials have primarily been through The MS Workbook: Living Fully with Multiple Sclerosis which was written by UW Faculty members and published by New Harbinger Press. Materials from the workbook will be adapted and added to this website at a later date using our current funding.
