Please follow the link to learn more about the MS Workbook. ![]() "US News & World Report" Ranks University of Washington #3 in the Nation for Rehabilitation CareWe are pleased to report that the University of Washington has been ranked #3 nationally for rehabilitation care in the most recent US News & World Report rankings. In addition, we remain the top-rated hospital-based rehabilitation program in the United States. Scoring is based on a national survey of physicians who are board-certified in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation. This reputational ranking reflects well on our clinical programs throughout the UW Medicine system, including the Rehabilitation Medicine programs at University of Washington Medical Center, Seattle Children's, the Veteran's Administration Puget Sound Health Care System, and our Eastside Specialty Clinic. Further information about the "US News & World Report" rankings can be obtained at their website: http://www.usnews.com Eight MSRRTC Posters Presented at Annual ECTRIMS MeetingEight MSRRTC posters were selected for the ECTRIMS meeting on September 9-12, 2009 in Dusseldorf, Germany. The ECTRIMS meeting is the annual conference of the European Committee for Treatment and Research in MS, and is a gathering of MS physicians, epidemiologists, psychologists, rehab specialists, and other professionals from all over the world. Kurt Johnson, PhD, Karon Cook, PhD, Mark Jensen, PhD, Ivan Molton, PhD, Charles Bombardier, PhD, and Kara McMullen, MPH attended the meeting. Abstracts from the related studies were published in "Multiple Sclerosis", Volume 15, Supplement 2, 2009. Paper Published in International Journal of MS Care.Kurt L. Johnson, Alyssa M. Bamer, and Robert T. Fraser published a paper in the Fall 2009 issue of the International Journal of MS Care. The paper is titled: Disease and Demographic Characteristics Associated with Unemployment Among Working-Age Adults with Multiple Sclerosis. UW Department of Rehabilitation Medicine Receives MS Research FundingThe Department of Rehabilitation Medicine has received a major grant to conduct a comprehensive program of research through the Multiple Sclerosis Rehabilitation Research and Training Center (MSRRTC) on issues critical to individuals living with multiple sclerosis. UW Department of Rehabilitation Medicine develops RRTC on Aging With DisabilitiesThe Department of Rehabilitation Medicine has received a major grant to fund the development of a Rehabilitation and Research Training Center (RRTC) devoted to addressing the specific challenges that affect people who are aging with physical disabilities, including spinal cord injury, multiple sclerosis, post-polio syndrome, and muscular dystrophy. |
